Robert L. “Bob” Smith, 81, died at 10:28a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
 
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 in First Church of the Nazarene, 1177 W. Hickory Point Road, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the church. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.  
Bob was born June 29, 1930 in Decatur, the son of George W. and Mary E. Smith. He attended Decatur Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953, and was stationed in Germany. He married Joy A. Smith on June 26th, 1955 in Decatur. They were blessed with two sons, Greg and Steve. Bob was the owner and operator of Bob Smith Auto Sales in Mt. Zion until his retirement. They enjoyed vacationing in Deltona, FL and Pigeon Forge, TN. Classic car Shows were of particular interest. Bob was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene. His faith in God and prayer enabled him to withstand four years of reoccurring melanoma.
 
Surviving are his wife: Joy; son: Greg Smith; grandchildren: Tucker and Halle Smith; daughter-in-law: Mindy Dawson and her husband Kevin.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Steve, brother: Winnie and in-laws: J.W. and Ann Smith.
 
Bob was a caring husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, and friend who will be lovingly remembered.

 Joy, we were saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We have only good memories of you and Bob. He helped me in many ways, especially in the area of buying automobiles. We are better people for having known you and Bob. You are in our prayers.

 Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Smith family.  Bob was always a thoughtful and caring man.  He was a great example of what of a man of God should be. He will be greatly missed.

I always enjoyed talking to Bob at the auctions and when I'd see him around town. He was a good man and I'm sorry to learn of his passing.
